The Sea to Sky Highway : VANCOUVER - WHISTLER - PEMBERTON - LILLOOET
Highway 99, also known as the Sea to Sky Highway, the Squamish Highway, or Whistler Highway north of Vancouver, is the major north–south artery running through the Greater Vancouver area of British Columbia from the U.S. border, up Howe Sound through to Lillooet.
The number of this highway is derived from the old U.S. Route 99, with which the highway originally connected.

So here is 5 tips you need to know to get the best out of this fantastic roadtrip route
#1 - CHECK THE WEATHER
Don't go in winter, your in the wilderness, mountains, desert, it will get cold believe me.
The route is often closed during winter months and simply impassable.
No matter when you plan, check the weather, you know it makes sense, not much fun when its pissing down rain either. This is one for a clear day, so many different elevations, vistas and surfaces.
#2 - ROAD SURFACE - Watch for gravel
Seriously watch for gravel, trailers have kicked it up on corners and pull outs and there could possibly even be land slides....Oh and those frost heaves can catch you out.
#3 - PACK SOME PATIENCE - TAKE YOUR TIME
At peak times it gets busy so pack your patience, consider stopping and relaxing for 15 mins then go again, a tactic that usually pays off.
"RIDE YOUR OWN ROAD"
#4 - BE PREPARED - OUT THERE
Obviously you have checked your bike out, fueled up and grabbed your phone.
Take some tools and a 1st Aid Kit
Snacks, water, medication?
A map that doesn't require cell service.
And always another layer to stay comfortable and in control.
#5 - STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES
You will want to turn round and ride back again.
It really is that good but its important to stop.
I usually extend my ride to Kamloops and enjoy an evenings accommodation & entertainment.
An amazing days ride through simply wonderful landscapes.
One day loop from Vancouver
Overnighter in Kamloops
No matter what kind of trip your looking for you will find it in this area.
